The Dorm Mini Fridge Checklist
Height limits, rear ventilation and noise — everything to check before a mini fridge goes under your lofted bed or desk.
Dorm rooms usually allow one fridge, and it usually ends up under a desk or lofted bed. That means height and rear clearance decide everything.
Three things to check
- Under-desk height. Most desks leave 26–29 inches. A cube fridge fits easily; a two-door model usually does not.
- Rear airflow. The condenser coils need 2–4 inches behind the unit or the compressor runs constantly.
- Noise. Anything under 40 dB is fine to sleep next to.
